Wilda Faye Newton Rutland, 93, formerly of Albany, GA died Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Brentwood Nursing Home in Waynesboro, GA, after an extended illness. She was born March 3,1932 in Turner County, GA to the late Jasper Welton and Fathie Jane Covington Newton. She was a member of Avalon UMC of Albany, GA. She was very active in all aspects of her time at Avalon for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis Rutland, who she loved with all her heart; five sisters, Thelma, Elsie, Lou, Margaret, and Ruth.
Survivors include her son, James Michael Rutland (Lynn) of Hephzibah, GA; granddaughter, April Gay (Jeremy); great granddaughter, Sadie Gay; nephews, Robert Wayne Ponder and George Newton Ponder; great nephews Dane McLeod, Brian McLeod, Alan McLeod, and Steve McLeod; and great niece, Cathy McLeod Smith.
A private service will be held at a later date. Her family can be reached at her son’s home at 2163 Corley Road, Hephzibah, Ga 30815.
