Vera Irene Strong

Vera Irene Strong ,76, of Waynesboro, GA passed away peacefully on April 3rd 2026, surrounded by family. Vera was born on November 4th, 1949 to the late Fred Blackstone and Irene Collins in Augusta, Ga. 

Vera will be remembered for her love, generosity, courage and strength of which she gave to all that knew her. She loved bright bold colors and painted her world in hues and shades that reflected the beauty of her soul. Vera was an avid reader who could spend hours lost between the pages of a good book. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed caring for her plants. But what Vera loved and valued above all else was her family. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. To everyone else, she was an exceptional friend. She never met a stranger and was a blessing to all who knew her. Her light brought comfort, love and joy to all. 

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Wayne Allen Strong; three sons Harry Woodruff, Joe Woodruff, and Brandon Strong; her daughter in law, Julia Strong; 10 grandchildren, Chanel Woodruff, Jaquez Woodruff, Cierra Woodruff, Gabriel Woodruff, Jordan Hammond, Jaelen Cook, Preston Strong, Jordan Strong, Jeremy Hammond, and Isabella Strong; and two great grandchildren, Brycen Stewart and Maverick Chance. 

Memorial Services will be held 3:00pm Thursday, April 9 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bruce Allen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
