Thomas “Mack” Mobley, 74, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025. Mack was born in 1951. The youngest child of Paul and Grace Mobley, he was doted on by both his older siblings, but more so by his mother. He had a childhood filled with fond memories on the farm, surrounded by his immediate family and many Mobley cousins. Oh the stories he would tell!
In his early adulthood, he fell in love with Sallie Reeves. His decision to marry her was a lasting one, as they have been married for 51 years. Just as his mother, Grace, had, Sallie stepped in to dote over Mack. The couple had two daughters, Amylia (Lester) and Lindsai (Gentry). To those girls and their childhood playmates, whether it be friends or cousins, Mack was a constant. He was a great girl dad, letting his hair be styled and his nails painted whenever they wanted. Mack was always the one adult in the pool, with kids climbing on him to get thrown in. He was quick to jump in family sports or games with the kids too. Above all, he involved his girls (and other children) in everything he did, work or play.
Full of energy, Mack never shied away from hard work. An avid water skier, he loved weekends on the river in his younger years. He and friends would practice skiing by skiing upriver from Brigham Landing to the lock and dam and then skiing back down. Throughout his life, two of his favorite enjoyments were sports and great food. A ballgame was never too far away or too late to watch, and a delicious meal couldn’t be missed, even if it required a two-hour drive.
When the girls had children of their own, Mack became “Gampa” to Mason Mobley and Charlie Gentry, and those boys were the light of Mack’s life.
Diagnosed with Parkinson’s in his late forties, Mack remained active with those boys as long as he could. Through all the years of suffering, Mack never complained, always maintaining his sweet and witty nature. Never saying a negative word about another, never uttering a four-letter word, and never raising his voice, Mack was a true saint. You could not ask for a sweeter soul than Mack Mobley.
Left to treasure memories with are his caring wife, his daughters, his son-in-law, Jackson Gentry, the grandboys, his older sister, Sandra Mobley, and a multitude of Mobleys, Thomases, and Reeves.
There to meet him in Heaven are his parents, his brother, Grady, and his son-in-law, Randy Lester.
