Ruth Jeanette Sullivan, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Born in Augusta, GA, Ruth lived a life rooted in faith, family, and deep love for those around her.
She was married to her devoted husband, Carl David Sullivan, for 51 wonderful years. Together, they built a life centered on commitment, care, and shared memories that will be cherished forever.
She dedicated 35 years of service to Gracewood State Hospital, where she was known for her compassion, dedication, and strong work ethic. Ruth’s caring nature extended beyond her profession into every aspect of her life.
A woman of strong faith, Ruth loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Hopeful Baptist Church. Her faith guided her life and was a source of strength and comfort to her and those around her.
Ruth found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved camping and spending time at the beach, creating lasting memories with family and friends. Above all, her family was everything to her. She treasured every moment spent with her loved ones and maintained close, meaningful friendships throughout her life.
She is survived by her loving husband, Carl David Sullivan; her children, Randy Hammett (Linda), Annette Williams (Billy), Bubba Sullivan, Ray Widener (Lisa), Joe Sullivan (Michelle), and Rudy Hammett (Karen); her cherished grandchildren, Ben, Drew, Tyler, Russell, Ashley, Justin, Dillon, Ashleigh, Brett, Lindsey, Doug, Brittany, Taylor, Michael, Lacie, and Bailey; many great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her father, Harry E. Allen; her mother, Marjorie L. Lassiter Turner; her sisters, Carolyn Phillips and Frankie Allen; a beloved grandson, Dakota Hammett; and her cousin, Gwen Allen.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Regency Hospice of Augusta for the care and compassion shown during this difficult time.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ruth’s memory to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Ruth Jeanette Sullivan will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, strength, and unweaving love.
