Ruth Jenkins Long

Ruth Jenkins Long, 81, entered into rest Thursday, July 23, 2026. She was born in Waynesboro to the late George Wilson and Helen Murray Jenkins and was a lifelong resident of Sardis. She worked as a bank teller at the Bank of Sardis for over 30 years. She owned and operated a florist and loved arranging flowers for weddings. Ruth was a member of Sardis Methodist Church. She was known for her infectious smile and will be missed by many. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Long; and guardian, Milton Fitzgerald.

She is survived by two children, Johnny Long (Tina) of Ten Mile, TN and Kelli Jenkins (Gene) of Waynesboro; five grandchildren, Jonathan Long (Claire) of North Augusta, Kaitlyn Bland (Matthew) of Sylvania, Allyson Wade (Hagen) of Waynesboro, Tinley Hendricks (William) of Waynesboro, and Will Jenkins of Waynesboro; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Beth Skinner of Sardis; a brother, Bobby Jenkins of Millen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00pm at Sardis Methodist Church with Rev. Sonny Moon and Keith Cox officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff at Brentwood Nursing Home, Regency Hospice, Jill Posey, Chasity Hamilton, and Leigh Alexander for their care during this difficult time.

Remembrances may be made to the Sardis Methodist Church.
