Rupert W. Ellison

Mr. Rupert W. Ellison, age 92, of Sardis, Georgia, died Saturday, December 15, 2018, in Oaks Bethany in Vidalia, after an extended illness.He was a native of Girard and lived in Sardis, in Burke County, all of his life until moving to Vidalia four years ago.He was a self-employed builder and carpenter, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific Theater.He was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Thompson Ellison; parents, Walter Wilson Ellison and Sara Etta Jane Davis Ellison; and two sisters, Teresa Beall and Dorothy Ann Lovett.

Mr. Ellison is survived by one daughter, Donna Ellison Skinner and husband Chester; one granddaughter, Robin Marie Liagris and husband Jonathan; two great-grandchildren, Lucas Liagris and Stella Marie Liagris, all of Vidalia; three sisters, Mamie Lou Zorn of Augusta, Sarah Jane McCanne of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Tommie Nell Hillis and husband Charlie of Sardis; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 18th at 11:00 a.m. in the Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.
