Robert Allen Newsome

Robert Allen “Big Daddy” Newsome, 71, entered into rest Monday, April 21, 2025. He was born in Louisville, GA to the late Robert and Mary Newsome and has been a longtime resident of Burke County. He was the owner/operator of Newsome Trucking and retired from trucking. Robert was the youngest of five children. He was gentle with a kind heart. He was a beloved father and brother. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Murrell Newsome; a grandson, Alan Randall Newsome; and a brother, Gene Newsome.

He is survived by two sons, Alan Shane Newsome (Cyndi) of Burke County and Scott Newsome (Shirl) of Augusta; his partner, Kristy Akridge; three siblings, Vernon Newsome (Kay) of Windsor, SC, Justin Newsome (Jean) of Thomson, and Mary McCaleb (Ellis) of Grovetown; two grandchildren, Brandon Newsome (Kristan) of Augusta and Brandy Black of Augusta; 6 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 1:30pm Wednesday, April 30 in the funeral home chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
