Robert Ashley Hillis

Robert Ashley Hillis, 81, entered into rest Saturday, April 11, 2026. He was a native and longtime resident of Savannah before moving to Gainesville, GA in 2023. He retired from Bellsouth after 30 years of service and after his retirement, he owned and operated Ashley’s Convenience Store on Ogeechee Road. Ashley was a veteran of the US Marines and was a member of the Honor Guard at 8th and I in Washington DC. During the 1980s, he served as Vice President and President of the CWA Local 3220. He was a member of the Optimist Club in the 1970s and 1980s. Ashley was of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Wren Hillis; his parents, Mary and Jacob Hillis, Jr.; and his sister, Bevelyn Hillis Dellinger.

He is survived by his daughter, Shannon Hillis of Gainesville, GA; a nephew, Allen Dellinger of Gainesville; and a niece, April Dellinger of Gainesville.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 12:30pm Wednesday, April 15 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 12:30pm Wednesday, April 15 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Steve Sirmons officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Dhu in Vidette at 2:30pm with military honors.
