Phyllis A. Steffen

Phyllis A. Steffen, age 90,of Waynesboro, GA formerly of Canton, Ohio died Friday morning, September 23, 2016 following an extended illness. Born in Canton she was the daughter of the late William & Hazel (Schumaker) Wise and step daughter of the late: Sam McAnaney. She was a graduate of Timken High School, worked at Enseco and Foutz Cleaning in Canton, was a member of the Canton Women's Bowling Association, the American Legion Canton Post #44 and the Canton V.F.W. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years: Roy Edward Steffen who died in 1991; brother: Judge Earl Wise; sisters: Wanda Rhiel and Jean Snider. She is survived by her son: Roy Earle (Michi) Steffen of Canton; daughters: Sheila Hiles of Tequesta, FL, Hazel (Rex) Gerlinger of Waynesboro, GA; grandchildren: Trent (Amanda) Hiles, Trever Hiles; step grandchildren: Ken (Sara) Gerlinger, Matthew (April) Gerlinger; 4 great-grandchildren and 5 step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are special friends: Anita & Dick Foutz, Emma Chick and Joan Rose all of Canton. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am Tuesday in Westlawn Cemetery, Canton. Following the burial there will be a wake service at the American Legion Canton Post 44. Donations may be made in her name to American Legion Canton Post 44, Memorial Fund. 1633 Cleveland Ave NW, Canton, Ohio 44703.
