Peggy Joyce Dixon Godbee

Peggy Joyce Dixon Godbee, 82, entered into rest Sunday, June 14, 2026. She was born in Girard to the late Raymond and Emily Miller Dixon and has been a longtime resident of Burke County. She worked at Plant Vogtle and Maryland Gunworks in Augusta until her retirement. Peggy was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Girard. She enjoyed cake decorating and floral designing. She loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Monroe Godbee; a sister, Ruth Reddick; and two brothers, Miller Dixon and Martin Dixon.

She is survived by a daughter, Laurie Monroe Godbee; two sisters, Betty Lane and Raydean Black both of Girard; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Wednesday, June 17 at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be held 11:00am Thursday, June 18 at Burke Memorial Gardens with Rev. Steve Sirmons officiating.

Pallbearers will be Grady “Bubba” Callison, Todd Lane, Ryan Lane, Curtis Jenkins, David Royal II, and Riley Royal.
