Michael D. Payne

Michael D. Payne, 57, of Spring Hill, FL passed away on January 16, 2021. He was born on January 5, 1964 in English, WV to the late Gene Payne and Louis Justice McCoy. He faithfully served our country as a member of the U.S. Army for four years. He lived for over 20 years in Abingdon, VA, where he coached little league baseball and football. Michael was a certified welding inspector and was employed by Southern Nuclear. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was dedicated to his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother.

Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Sherry Payne of Spring Hill, FL; three sons, Jonathan Payne (Nichole) of San Diego, CA, Andrew Payne of Spring Hill, FL, and Steven "Casey" Payne (Kayla) of Knoxville, TN; three grandsons, Michael Payne of San Diego, CA, Owen Payne and Watson Payne both of Knoxville, TN; granddaughter, Lynda Forman of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Julia Boles (J.T.) and Peggy Blevins both of Lincolnton, NC; two nieces; and one nephew.

A memorial service honoring Michael's life will be held at a later date in Abingdon, VA.
