Melvin Mobley

Melvin Mobley, 82, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Friday June 20th, 2025, at his home. Melvin was born in Burke County, Georgia, on August 11, 1942, to the late Lewis and Sara Mobley. He was a lifelong resident of Burke County and began farming at a young age, later establishing Saddle Creek Farms in 1986. Melvin also enjoyed riding horses and being involved with the Georgia Field Trial Association, spending time at the river, and spending time with his family and friends. He also attended Vidette Methodist Church for many years and later Botsford Baptist Church.

Melvin is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sandra Reeves Mobley; two daughters, Barbara Ann Hammett (Ashley) and Allison Hughes (Derrick); two sons, Bill Evans IV (April) and Phil Walden (Jami) all of Waynesboro; ten grandchildren, Bailey Evans Cofield (Chance), Lily Brannen (Ben), Caroline Cates, Asher Hammett, Anna Kay Hughes, Braxton Walden, Brayden Evans, John Brier Walden, Avery Hughes, and Briggs Walden; two great grandchildren, Parker Cofield and Charlotte Brannen; and a special nephew, Danny Mobley and a great niece, Jana Mobley as well as many other nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm Sunday, June 22 at the funeral home. Services to follow at 3:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Gregory Coursey and Bob Taylor officiating. Private burial to follow.

Active Pallbearers will be Danny Mobley, Warren Mobley, George Mobley, Trey Mobley, Dustin Mobley, Caleb Mobley, Mark McClain, and Rocky Yelton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Alice Mobley, Roger Bazemore, Bo John Mitchell, and Chris Mobley.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to caregivers Bethany Keller, Amy Drake, and Hospice Services of Georgia as well as Waynesboro First Methodist Church’s Wednesday Night Meal Ministry.

Remembrances may be made to the Georgia Field Trial Association or charity of one's choice.
