Evans, GA – Matthew Reid Elliott, 37, entered into rest on Sunday, June 8, 2025. A lifelong resident of the Greater Augusta Area, Matthew proudly served his country in the United States Army. He attained the rank of Sergeant (SGT) in the esteemed 101st Airborne Division, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, serving honorably for nearly seven years. Matthew was a vibrant soul whose presence could light up any room. With his quick wit and infectious laugh, he had an extraordinary ability to turn strangers into friends. To know Matthew was to know joy, warmth, and laughter. He was a man of many talents and possessed a remarkable gift for quickly mastering new skills, trades, or tasks. Whether on the job or helping those he loved, he approached every endeavor with determination and heart.
Above all, Matthew loved his family deeply, especially his two daughters, Kayleigh and Saylor, who were the pride and joy of his life. In addition to his children, Matthew is survived by his mother, Mindy Selby; his brother, Evan Price (Sarah); his grandfather, Charles Henderson. In addition to his immediate family, Matthew is survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, William (Bill) Elliot; grandparents: Bernice (Nanny) Reid, Carol Elliott, Julian Reid, Emily Henderson, and Dr. Vernice Boyd Selby A memorial service will be held Saturday June 21, 2025, at 11:00am at New Beginnings in Christ in Garfield, GA.
