Mary Ruth Morris Greiner

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we announce that Mary Ruth Morris Greiner has been called home to be with her Lord and Savior. After a life richly lived, surrounded by family, faith, and the simple joys she cherished most, Mary passed peacefully, secure in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

Mary was born on December 8, 1932, to Rommie Morris and Ruth Clark Morris. She lived a long and faithful life, and now rejoices in her heavenly home, reunited at last with those who went before her.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francis Allen Greiner (Frank), Sr.; her parents, Rommie and Ruth Morris; her siblings, Emmett Morris, Howard Morris, George Morris, Arthur Morris, Daniel Morris, and Andrew Morris; her daughter-in-law, Loretta Greiner; her sons-in-law, Rodger Woodward and Rob Claxton; and her precious granddaughter, Valorie Lynn Woodward. We take comfort in knowing she has been welcomed into their arms once more, "absent from the body, and present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8).

Mary leaves behind a beautiful legacy carried on through her children: Oliva G. Claxton, Shirley Woodward, and Francis Allen Greiner, Jr. (Patti Greiner); her grandchildren: Pamela Sammons (Rob Sammons), Pamela Hartle (Jeff Hartle), Victoria Coyle (Patrick Coyle), and Charles Robert Claxton Jr.; her great-grandchildren: Matthew Bradham, Roger Bock III, Alyssa Bock, Cameron Hartle, Brianna Hartle, and Morgan Johnson; and her great-great-grandchildren, Ren Bock and Parker Bradham the newest branch on her family tree. She also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives she touched with her gentle spirit and generous heart.

Mary was a member of the Friendship Circle in Waynesboro, Georgia, where her warmth and steady faith were a blessing to all who knew her. She found deep joy in creating beautiful bead crafts — angels and Christmas ornaments made with her own loving hands — and she delighted in giving them away as gifts to nearly everyone she met, a small reflection of the boundless generosity that defined her life. Each little angel she crafted was, in its own way, a quiet reminder of her faith and her love for others.

Among her most beloved creations were her Christmas spiders, lovingly beaded and tucked among the branches of the tree each year. According to a cherished old legend, a spider once wove a web of silver and gold over a Christmas tree, filling it with beauty and blessing the home with good fortune — a story that always seemed fitting for a woman who spent her life spinning small acts of love into treasures for others. Every Christmas spider Mary made and gave away carried with it a piece of her heart, and for those who received one, it will forever be a sparkling reminder of her.

Mary treasured her home in Hephzibah, Georgia, where she created a lifetime of memories with her family. More than any place or possession, though, it was her family she loved most, she found her greatest joy simply being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we rejoice in the assurance that Mary now walks in the presence of the Lord, free from pain and sorrow, wrapped in eternal peace. Her legacy of faith, love, and quiet generosity will live on in every life she touched and in every handmade angel that still hangs, gently reminding us of her, on the Christmas trees of those she loved.

Memorial Service Information

Family and friends are invited to join us in honoring and remembering her life at a memorial service on: 

Saturday, September 12th at 11:00 a.m. DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home 220 East 6th Street Waynesboro, GA 30830 with a visitation one hour prior to the service. 

A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow the service at:

Waynesborough Academy II Community Room 845 Shadrack Street Waynesboro, GA
