Mary Ruth Overstreet Hunter, 75, entered into rest Thursday, January 8, 2026. She was a native of Jenkins County and a longtime resident of Burke County. She was a homemaker and enjoyed camping, the mountains, and being outdoors. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Dorsey “Doss” Overstreet; six siblings, Edward Overstreet, Flora Bell Overstreet, Dusty Overstreet, Dorsey Edward Overstreet, James Overstreet, and Lori Jean Royals.
She is survived by her husband, David “Butch” Harbuck; three children, William “Moochie” Herbert Hunter, Jr. (Traci), Melissa Ann Hunter, and Larry James Harbuck; eight grandchildren, Abby Elizabeth Hunter, Trevor Gagnon, Austin Hunter, Brandon Hunter, Memphis Hunter, Paris Hunter, Brooklyn Hunter, and A’Moree Hunter; several great grandchildren; three nieces, Betty Jo Purvis (Larry), Lorean Smith (Bobby), and Lynn Morris (Patrick); three nephews, Kenny Overstreet (Liz), Billy Overstreet (Connie), and Jimmy Overstreet (Nikki); mother-in-law, Doraine Harbuck; and a special friend, Miranda Purvis.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Tuesday, January 13 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Wednesday, January 14 at Green Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Jesse Sadler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Overstreet, Jimmy Overstreet, Cody Overstreet, John Atkinson, Steven Sikes, and Michael Ellis.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Billy Overstreet, Charles Overstreet, Steven Sikes II, and Johnathan Atkinson.
