Mrs. Mary Alice Kirven Brinson, 96, passed away peacefully on Monday June 29, 2026, at her home surrounded by her caretakers. A native of St. Matthews and Pamplico, SC, she was born on October 10, 1929, to the late Raleigh Allen Kirven and Alice Powell Kirven. Mary graduated from Pamplico High School in 1946 and Coker College in 1950. Mary married the love of her life, William E. “Bill” Brinson, in 1957. Mary and Bill lived for a short stint in Miami Beach, FL before returning to Bill’s life-long home of Burke County, GA. Mary taught high school Spanish and Art in Waynesboro schools for many years. Mary was a member of the Waynesboro First United Methodist Church and the Spares and Pairs Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. She was also a gifted artist. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Brinson; and her sister, Janie Kirven Oswald.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Diane Oswald Bosler, Joan Oswald Cooper, Susan J. Oswald, Cherry Brinson McDonald, Barbara Brinson Grizzard, and Joseph Oswald III.
