Waynesboro, GA- Lillian Rountree Shaw, 89, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014. She was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County who was born on October 3, 1924, to the late Lewis R. Rountree, Sr. and Lillian Penroe Rountree. She was in fellowship at Burkehaven Chapel in Waynesboro where she was active for many years. She loved her Lord and her family. Lillian was an avid gardener and cook who especially enjoyed baking cakes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lawton Shaw, Sr. "Kitty"; a son, Willie Lawton Shaw, Jr. "Billy"; and numerous brothers and sisters.
She is survived by 3 sons, Bobby Shaw (Pat) of Waynesboro, Jerry Shaw (Jennifer) ofClyo, GA, and Chris Shaw of Waynesboro; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 1great great grandchild; a sister, Margaret Drake of Waynesboro; 2 brothers, Lewis Russell Rountree, Jr. of New Jersey and James Preston Rountree of Louisiana; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday, March 4 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 2 pm Wednesday, March 5 at Burkehaven Chapel in Waynesboro. Dan Hollingsworth will officiate. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Augusta. Pallbearers will be her eldest grandsons, Wesley Shaw, Lawton Shaw, David Shaw, Will Davis, Thomas Ledbetter and Andrew Sherman. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Miles, Hunter Davis and Trey Davis.
