Laura Jean Chance, 95, entered into eternal rest with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Brentwood Terrace Nursing Home. She was born and raised in Alexander, Georgia was a resident of St. Petersburg, Florida before moving back to Burke County in 1990. She was a member of Botsford Baptist Church and a former member of Gough Baptist Church. She was a 1947 graduate of St. Joseph School of Nursing in Savannah, Georgia and went on to retire as a RN from the Veteran Affairs Administration after 35 years of service at the Bay Pines VA Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. She earned the Outstanding Service Award in 1978 and 1982 at Bay Pines.
Survivingare her nieces and nephews, Linda Bargeron of Savannah, GA, Jerrie Dixon of Waynesboro, GA, Kay Belvin of Virginia, Annita Hillis of Savannah, GA, Diane Workman of North Augusta, SC, Farris Wren of Vidette, GA, Phillip Wren of Waynesboro, GA, Troy Joiner of Millen, GA, and Linda Benton of Florida; and numerous great nieces and nephews
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2021, at the DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home with the Reverend Cail Pressey officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Active Pallbearers will be Steven Dixon, Scott Wren, Mark Workman, Bill Workman, Jerry Benton, Jeremy Wren, and James Flakes.
