Kathryn Black Cannon

Kathryn Black Cannon, 76, entered into rest Wednesday, August 5, 2026. She was born in Millen to the late Ruth and James Alphord Black and has been a longtime resident of Waynesboro. She retired from Southern Bank after over 48 years of service and was a member of the Methodist Church of Sardis. She loved travelling, especially to the mountains or the beach. Kathy enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, particularly working in her yard. She was very kindhearted, giving, and had a great work ethic. She loved people and never met a stranger. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by two sisters, Jamie Wesley and Dale DeLaigle; a brother, James A. “Bubba” Black; and a son, Jerry Bell.

She is survived by her husband, Leroy Bell, Jr.; four children, Bob Hillis of Stone Mountain, GA, Lynn Vickery (Greg) of Sardis, Kylie Bell (Lydia) of Alexander, and Lisa Griner of Alexander; several grandchildren; two sisters, Polly Dailey (Johnny) and Paula Adams (David) both of Millen; as special cousin, Sybil Johnson of Twin City; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00pm Monday, August 10 at the Methodist Church of Sardis with Chip Dixon, Sean Conner, and Kevin Buczkowski officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Remembrances may be made to the Methodist Church of Sardis.
