John S. “JS” Thomas, Jr., 89, entered into rest Monday, August 22, 2022. He was a native and lifelong resident of Vidette. He was a member of Bethel A.R.P. Church and attended Vidette United Methodist Church. He was a Veteran of the US Army. John retired from Goldkist after 33 years of service. He was an avid grass cutter, regularly cutting various lawns throughout the Vidette community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Addie and John Thomas, Sr.; his beloved wife, Jean Thomas; two daughters, Teresa Ann and Alisa Ann Thomas; two sisters, Gladys Tijan and Mae Helms; and his mother-in-law, Mary “Nanny” Allmond.
He is survived by a son, John “Johnny” S. Thomas III (Dominee) of Waynesboro; two grandchildren, Dylan Thomas and Megan Thomas of Waynesboro; and special friend, Barbara Hudson of Vidette.
The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, August 25 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held 10:00am Friday, August 26 at Vidette United Methodist Church with Rev. Bruce Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Dhu.
Active Pallbearers will be Tate Horton, Chad Shivers, Rob Peel, Tommy Rowland, David Raley, and Roy Black.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Agerton and Mickey Horton.
The family would like extend a special thanks to Regency Hospice and their nurses, Leigh Alexander and Nikki Whigham.
