John Finley

John Douglas Finley, of Sardis, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his home on May 14, 2025.

John was a collector (of everything!), but really enjoyed working on, tearing down, and rebuilding guns and other weapons. He was also a huge history buff and studied the Civil War and world politics extensively. Any question you might have, John would not only have an answer but would also share stories (for hours!) about whatever you asked about or anything even remotely related. He was a delightful conversationalist.

John was a long-time Chief of Police in Sardis and later worked with Sunbelt Medical.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Lee Finley and Joanne Irene Finley.

Survivors include his older siblings, Janet R. Wagner of Salt Lake City, Utah, and James R. Finley of Aiken, SC.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations to the American Heart Association.
