Glenn Franklin Kilpatrick, aged 96, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on January 5, 1929, in Perkins, Georgia, to James Franklin and Annie Mae Jackson Kilpatrick, he was the only surviving son in a family also containing four sisters, all of whom preceded him in death.
A master carpenter, Glenn was well-known and well-respected in Waynesboro and the surrounding areas for building some of the many homes constructed around town in the 1960s through the 1980s, many of which are located in the Spring Valley subdivision. He also built many homes in Jacksonville, Florida and Jekyll Island, Georgia.
Glenn was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, riding his golf cart and feeding the fish in the pond he built on his property. He particularly loved his dogs – all of them through the years – the last of which are Dexter and Bailey.
He was a godly man, having been a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Alexander for over 75 years. Over the years he built several additions to the church.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, William Kilpatrick; his beloved wife, Lucille Herndon Kilpatrick; four sisters, Vivian Maddox, Frances DeLaigle, Annie Brinson, and Maizie Quick; two daughters, Glenda Wilson and Edna Cook; three grandchildren, Byron King, Charlotte Hillis, and Tonya Perkins; and a great-grand child, Casey Wilson.
He is survived by three children: John Parker (Nancy), Cathy Capley, and Jackie Eskew (Charles) all of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Rodney Parker (Debbie), Beth Braddy (Steve), Michael Eskew, Becky Culley (Tim), Drew Capley, and James Russell Wilson (Christina); 20 great-grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; several brothers- and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Alexander on Tuesday, August 12 at 10:00 o’clock followed by a service at 11:00. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Danny Brinson, Matt Brinson, Steve Brinson, Bob Quick, Josh Quick, and James Russell Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Braddy, Charles Eskew, John Parker, Rodney Parker, David Seigler, and Zack Seigler.
