Girard-George Brantley Perry, Sr., 92, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Perry was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County. He retired from the Burke County Board of Education after 25 years of service. Mr. Perry also farmed along with his employment with Burke County. He was a very active member of Corinth Christian Church.
He was preceded death by his parents, Dennis and Zelphia Perry; his sisters, Estelle Weeks, Hattie Weeks, Ethel Woods, and Alice Lively; his brothers, Lee Perry and Willie Perry; his son-in-law, Michael Harley; and grandson, Steven Harley.
Surviving are his wife, Eva Mae Perry of Girard; his children, Dorothy Lindsey and husband Darrell of Millen, Wanda Rhodes and husband Phil of Millen, Zelphia Finch and husband Wendell of Sylvania, George B. Perry, Jr. and wife Patty of Girard and Daisy Harley of Girard; his grandchildren, Jeremy Lindsey, Brandon Lindsey, Daniel Rhodes, Adrian Rhodes McDaniel, Perry Finch, Brantley Harley, Jessica Sowell, Ashley Oglesby; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 3, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Deloach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, September 4, 2017, at Corinth Christian Church with Reverend Jeremy Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Perry Finch, Brandon Lindsey, Daniel Rhodes, Brantley Harley, Trent Harley, Chase Harley, and Ronald McDaniel.
