Gayle Butler Mobley

Gayle Butler Mobley, 79, entered into rest Monday, September 21, 2026. She was born in Augusta to the late Juanita and William Cullen Butler and has been a longtime resident of Burke County. Gayle was an active and faithful member of Gough Baptist Church, where she devoted her entire adult life to serving her church and her community. She consistently mirrored the life of Jesus in the everyday moments - through the giving of her time, her heart, and her talents wherever she was needed. Gayle’s declaration of faith went beyond words; it was something she lived out each day. Everyone who knew Gayle witnessed her deep love for her Lord Although she only gave birth to two children, Gayle had countless others whom she considered her own. Her home offered to many a place of comfort, laughter, and wonderful meals - any and all walked away with full bellies and even fuller hearts! There was always room at her table and in her heart for one more. She regularly blessed her community with her hospitality - she exercised a special gift for making people feel welcome, loved, and at home. To so many, Gayle was more than a friend, neighbor, or church member—she was family. Her love extended far beyond the walls of her own home, and the lives she touched will carry her memory and the love she so freely gave for years to come. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband. Malcolm J. Mobley, Jr.; and a brother, Bill Butler.

She is survived by two children, Sandra Mobley Quick (Mark) of Waynesboro and Chris Mobley (Terri) of Keysville; and five grandchildren, Ty Quick, Aubrey Quick, Cody Quick, Gabe Mobley, and Michael Mobley.

Memorial Services will be held 1:00pm Thursday, September 24 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Heath Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Center For New Beginnings.
