Elaine Saxon Carter, 84, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 23, 2018, at University Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of Burke County, a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, where she at one time taught 1st grade Sunday School, a church musician, formerly served on the cemetery committee, and was a member of the Willing and Workers Sunday School class. She retired from DuPont at the Savannah River Site after 40 plus years of employment. She was an avid gardener, known for her flowers, especially for her daylilies.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Broadus Carter, and her brother, James Martin Saxon.
Surviving are her brother, Ray Saxon and wife Sara of Waynesboro; her sister-in-law, Marie Saxon of Waynesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews, which she lovingly referred to as her "True Flowers."
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 25, 2018, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DeLoach-McKerley-Prescott Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Piney Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Mark Joyner officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
