David Louis Taggart

July 27, 1941 — August 19, 2025

David Louis Taggart, 84, entered into rest Tuesday, August 19, 2025. He was born in Hamilton, OH to the late Thelma and Louis Taggart and was a longtime resident of Plant City, FL before moving to Burke County in 2012. He was the oldest of nine children. David was a member of McBean Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and playing the guitar. He was a hard worker and was handy at craftwork and building things. He was honest, timely, and a perfectionist and would give you the shirt off his back if needed. David raised his children and grandchildren with a stern hand. He loved his family and will be missed greatly by them and those who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, Dorothy Lemley, Dennis Taggart, Stephen Taggart, and Judith Pope.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Martha Taggart; two daughters, Martha Rogers of Waynesboro and Margaret Taggart of Augusta; three grandchildren, Charlene Oglesby (Grant) of Waynesboro, Jeremy Rogers (Kimberly) of Plant City, FL, and Adrienne Hogue of Augusta; five great grandchildren, Gracelynn, Kaywinnett, Emmaline, Scarlette, and Luna; two siblings, John Taggart (Betty) of Athens, AL, and Roselyn Alexander (Vernon) of Carbon Hill, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
