Daniel "Danny" E. Whitton

Daniel “Danny” E. Whitton, 78, entered into rest Sunday, October 26, 2025. He was born in Rochester, NY to the late Ernest and Avis Whitton and has been a longtime resident of Burke County. He was a 1967 graduate of Waynesboro High School. Danny was a veteran of the US Navy. He retired from Plant Vogtle in 2004. He was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church, the GA Baptist Disaster Relief Team, and the American Legion and was an avid outdoorsman. Danny spent the last 20 years of his life serving in many different capacities helping people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bycel Daniel.

He is survived by his wife, Carla Cobb Whitton; two sons, Bill Cobb (Amanda) and Bobby Cobb (Shelia) both of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Hannah Cobb, Joshua Cobb (Kayla), Elizabeth Cobb, and Karli Cobb; six great grandchildren; a sister, Suzanne Daniel; a nephew, Ronny Daniel (Karen); two nieces, Deneen Daniel Watson (Mike), and Brenda Daniel McCrary (Fielding); one great nephew; five great nieces; one great great nephew; and one great great niece.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00pm Thursday, October 30 at Rosemont Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Flowers, Rev. Wes Lawson, and Rev. Keith Alderman officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Honorary Pallbearers will be George Perkins Sunday School Class, Rosemont Deacons, Wednesday Men’s Bible Study group, Phil Knox, and James Vincent.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rosemont Vision Fund or the Hephzibah Baptist Disaster Relief Fund.
