Barton Andrew Weitzel

December 30, 1966 — September 15, 2025

Barton Andrew Weitzel, 58, entered into rest Monday, September 15, 2025. He was born in Chicago to the late Jerome Weitzel and Margaret Presson Weitzel. He attended Antelope Valley College, where he majored in Journalism. He went on to be a talented police and crime reporter for the Antelope Valley Press until 9/11. Bart was 34 years old, nearly too old to enlist in the bygone day of 2001. He would be 35 when he graduated Navy basic at Great Lakes Training Center, finishing boot camp in a snowstorm. Why join at 33-34 especially when he didn’t have to? After the terror attacks of 9/11, he wanted to serve and defend his country. Barton served 20 years in the Navy, using his skills and talent to work signals cryptographic intelligence and do what he vowed to do, defend his country.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Weitzel; a daughter, Phoebe Weitzel; two sons, Conner Weitzel and Riley Weitzel; his mother; a brother, Noel Weitzel (Natalia); and a sister; Courtenay Weitzel.
